Verses 23 and 24 of Genesis chapter 25 may seem absurd at first, because God is declaring to Rebekah that the twins in her womb would become two nations and two different kinds of people and one people shall be stronger than the other and the elder shall serve the younger. Since traditionally, it is the younger that serves the elder – does the declaration of God go against man’s tradition. You can argue that as an “yes” but man’s traditions do not discount the sovereignty, plan and purpose of God.

Points to ponder:
Deeper inspection of this text illuminates another very important truth. This truth is that Adam, the first son of God (Luke 3:38), would serve Jesus, the Only begotten Son of God (John 3:16), who was born after Adam. By virtue of Adam serving Jesus, all of the sons of Adam (that is us) are also destined to serve the Lord Jesus. The question is, do we?

Genesis 25:23-24 (KJV)
23 And the Lord said unto her, Two nations are in thy womb, and two manner of people shall be separated from thy bowels; and the one people shall be stronger than the other people; and the elder shall serve the younger.
24 And when her days to be delivered were fulfilled, behold, there were twins in her womb.
